Hanif Shahzad was born in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan in 1959. In 1985 he has qualified Bachelors of Technology in Civil is a Civil Engineer. Later on in 1988 he has qualified diploma in fine arts with 1st class 1st position and won gold medal, from Karachi School of Art.
Artist’s Statement
I am a graduate of Karachi School of Arts with Gold Medals in 1988. However by profession I am a civil engineer but my first love is paintings and art made for each other, it is never ending journey. I have been doing it for the last 40 years, earlier mediums wenre paper collage then watercolors and finally oil paint. The ancient and historic architechtural sites of Indo-Pak is my favorite subject as we as old bazars, and village life is also inspired me. I belogs realistic school of thought and Golden era of Old Masters is my favorite.
Review
Merging his training and abilities as artist and civil engineer, focusing on themes related to village life, cityscape, and architecture, Hanif Shehzad initially worked with collage to create texture in the beautiful watercolour artworks he created. He went on to work with oils and enjoyed using mixed media to create the effects he visualized in the finished artwork’s impressive in the dawn light and the golden shades of sunset approaches. Hanif Shahzad is the only artist in Pakistan who has worked extensively on paper-collage. He highlights the bustling crowds around the markets, with dramatic contrast between a dark night sky, brilliantly lit shops and streets and the silhouettes of old buildings. He appears to capture the essence of the street life, and the unexpected grandeur of the city in its varied moods. He is an artist who captures the spirit of the world around him.

Credentials
He got successful right after his very first exhibition in 1989, which was a turning point in his journey. He has numerous exhibitions to his credit, including exhibitions abroad. Throughout his journey, his artwork has always been appreciated by media and art critics across the world. He has many national awards and certificates under his belt because of his exceptional artistic talent. He has successfully pulled over 20 solo shows and various group shows on international and national forums. Internationally his work has been exhibited in Germany, England, Malaysia, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Egypt, Lebanon, Oman, UAE, and India.
